16-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Assaulted Inside Moving Sleeper Bus in Delhi-NCR
New Delhi, September 1, 2026: A disturbing case involving a 16-year-old girl has raised fresh concerns about passenger safety on private sleeper buses operating across the Delhi-NCR region.
According to Delhi Police, the Class 11 student from Uttar Pradesh was travelling toward Noida when she became stranded at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida during heavy rain. Police said she boarded an empty sleeper bus after being told that it was travelling toward Noida Sector 63.
The girl later alleged that the bus driver and conductor sexually assaulted her while the vehicle was moving. Police said she was subsequently left near the Kashmere Gate area in Delhi, where she approached the police and reported the incident.
Two Accused Arrested
Following the complaint, Delhi Police launched an investigation and analysed CCTV footage from the route. Police said the bus was traced to a parking area in Timarpur, where the driver and conductor were arrested within hours. The vehicle was also seized and sent for forensic examination.
The case has also raised questions about security arrangements on private sleeper buses, including passenger verification, monitoring systems and the safety of young passengers travelling alone.
